Achievers is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Data Intelligence team in Toronto. The role focuses on backend services that convert SaaS platform data into actionable insights and reporting capabilities for customers. The team works with microservices built in Python and Go on Google Cloud and Kubernetes, and the position combines hands-on engineering leadership with architectural influence. This is a senior individual-contributor role suited to someone who enjoys solving platform-scale problems, guiding technical direction, and improving engineering practices and data strategy across a data-intensive product area.
Key responsibilities
- Help set the technical direction for the data intelligence platform and its reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Lead complex system initiatives from design through delivery, including architecture decisions and cross-team technical coordination.
- Design, build, and evolve backend microservices that process SaaS platform data into useful customer-facing insights.
- Improve engineering practices, system reliability, and data strategy across a distributed cloud environment.
- Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to shape scalable solutions and raise technical standards.
Key requirements
- Experience operating at a staff or comparable senior engineering level, with influence over architecture and technical direction.
- Strong backend development skills, including Python and Go within microservice-based systems.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Ability to lead complex, cross-cutting system initiatives and make sound trade-offs at scale.
- Background in data-intensive platforms, analytics, reporting, or related backend services is an asset.
