Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and take ownership of data-intensive platform components that are highly performant and horizontally scalable
- Collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and cross-functional partners on project scoping, system design, and implementation
- Lead and participate in design reviews, code reviews, performance analysis, and tuning work
- Mentor and coach engineers to support the growth and scaling of the engineering organization
- Troubleshoot production problems across services and at multiple layers of the stack
- Work on streaming infrastructure, including deployment and ongoing optimization
- Deliver work incrementally to gather feedback and iterate on solutions
Key requirements
- At least four years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency in one backend language and comfort in additional ones, ideally Java, Go, Python, TypeScript, or Ruby
- Hands-on experience with at least one database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Redis
- Solid grounding in computer science fundamentals with strong API design abilities
- Comfort with React or comparable front-end stacks, or willingness to learn
- Ability to work effectively on a geographically distributed, extended team
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and customer focus
- Track record of shipping incrementally and refining solutions based on feedback
