BitGo is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Toronto!
BitGo, a publicly traded digital-asset infrastructure company, is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for its Toronto office. This is a full-time onsite role on the Data Engineering team, focused on building and scaling the company’s data platform, reporting systems, and data-powered products. The position blends software engineering and data engineering: the hire will create reliable pipelines, integrate selected external sources, support customer-facing and internal applications, and improve blockchain reporting and automated reconciliation. The engineer will also help make data easier for product and engineering teams to use through self-service tooling, strong quality and auditability practices, and near real-time processing. Collaboration spans engineering, analytics, data science, product, and security. The company offers a base salary range of CAD $180,000–$220,000, plus equity, an annual performance bonus, and benefits.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable pipelines that ingest, transform, and organize data from internal systems.
- Add selected external data sources to enrich the platform.
- Develop applications that serve customer-facing products and internal workflows.
- Improve blockchain reporting infrastructure and automated reconciliation processes.
- Establish high standards for data quality, traceability, and auditability.
- Tune data systems for near real-time processing and fast access to insights.
- Create and customize self-service tools so data consumers can query and analyze large datasets efficiently.
- Evaluate and prototype new technologies to improve data engineering practices.
Key requirements
- Engineering degree in computer science or equivalent practical background.
- At least six years of combined software engineering and data engineering experience.
- Strong server-side development skills in TypeScript, Node.js, or Python.
- Hands-on SQL experience with databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs.
- Proven ability to build ETL pipelines and apply sound data design principles.
- Familiarity with data warehouse technologies and modeling practices, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, Presto, or Druid.
- Experience with systems design and event-driven architectures, including Kafka.
- Comfort with microservices, service-oriented architecture, testing, debugging, Git/GitHub, CI tools, Jira, and Confluence.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and participate in on-call support.
