Procurify is hiring a Engineering Manager in Vancouver!
Procurify, a remote-first spend-management platform company serving mid-market organizations, is hiring an Engineering Manager for its AI Engineering team. The group owns the intelligence layer behind the product — generative AI, large language models, retrieval and agentic systems that automate workflows and surface spend insights for finance and operations customers. This is an explicitly player-coach role: you will run a team of AI engineers while staying close to architecture, technical design, prototyping and key implementation decisions. The manager partners with Product, Design, Platform Engineering, Security and engineering leadership to set and execute the company's AI strategy, and is expected to hold technical credibility rather than manage from a distance. Procurify emphasizes a people-first, learning-oriented culture with flexible hours; the team works from anywhere in Canada, and this posting is anchored to Vancouver.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and coach a team of AI engineers, supporting career growth and a culture of ownership, experimentation and trust
- Contribute technically as a player-coach: architecture reviews, design work, prototypes, proofs-of-concept and critical implementations
- Drive delivery of AI products and platform capabilities, defining success metrics and communicating progress to stakeholders
- Set architectural standards and guardrails across LLM applications, RAG systems, agentic workflows, prompt and context engineering, evaluation, observability and responsible AI
- Guide the design, deployment and operation of production AI services, including model integrations, knowledge retrieval, orchestration platforms, agent frameworks and feedback loops
- Balance experimentation, technical debt reduction and platform investment against near-term product delivery
- Partner with Security, Platform, Product, Design and customer-facing teams on trustworthy, compliant AI solutions
- Help evolve engineering culture alongside other leaders
Key requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams and 3-5+ years building production AI products or platforms
- Demonstrated player-coach leadership: technical credibility plus people management
- Hands-on experience with LLM-powered applications, RAG, agentic workflows, orchestration frameworks, evaluation and monitoring systems, and production ML services
- Familiarity with Python, Azure OpenAI and/or AWS Bedrock, Databricks, Kubernetes, vector databases, LangGraph/LangChain/CrewAI or similar, and ML/LLMOps tooling
- Track record architecting and scaling distributed systems and customer-facing products, with pragmatic tradeoffs across speed, reliability, maintainability and cost
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into AI-enabled products with measurable customer value
- Strong communication of technical concepts, risks and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences
- Preferred: FinTech or B2B SaaS background, agile and DevOps practices, LLMOps and AI governance experience
- Seniority: Engineering Manager (people-leading player-coach)
- Work mode: Remote-first within Canada
- Salary: $184,000 - $205,000 CAD
- Key skills: Generative AI, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Agentic workflows, AI orchestration, AI evaluation, AI observability, Prompt engineering, Python, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Databricks, Kubernetes, Vector databases, LangGraph
