Pinterest is hiring a remote Sr. Manager!

Pinterest is hiring a Senior Manager to lead its Measurement Products engineering group, the team behind the tools advertisers use to judge whether their campaigns actually worked. The group builds both the measurement methodologies themselves — incrementality testing, brand and conversion lift, marketing mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, clean-room measurement — and the data and ML platforms that let those methods run at scale and be adopted quickly. This is a leadership role with two intertwined mandates: setting a multi-year technical and product direction for measurement, and building the organization of engineering managers, senior engineers and technical leads who deliver it. The position blends deep familiarity with causal inference and experimentation with hands-on people leadership and cross-functional influence across Product, Data Science, Ads Engineering and Sales. Pinterest also expects the person in this seat to model thoughtful use of AI-assisted development and LLM tooling, with clear standards for validation and data protection. Note the posting is tied to US offices despite a remote-friendly framing: candidates must be able to commute to San Francisco, Palo Alto or Seattle and come in one to two times a month.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a team of ML, backend and data engineers building measurement products and the platforms underneath them.
  • Own the technical vision and multi-year strategy, turning advertiser needs and statistical methods into reliable production systems.
  • Work with Product, Data Science, Ads Engineering and Infrastructure to ship causal-inference and ad-effectiveness solutions without weakening methodological rigor.
  • Direct development of scalable ML and data infrastructure supporting lift testing, matched-market and budget-split tests, MMM, MTA, conversion APIs and clean-room measurement.
  • Shape the wider Ads roadmap by finding opportunities to improve speed, scale, usability and actionability of measurement offerings.
  • Drive adoption and advertiser impact alongside Product Management, Data Science and Sales partners.
  • Hire, coach and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders; foster an inclusive culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Promote effective use of AI coding assistants and LLM tools while holding a high bar for review, testing, explainability and accountability.

Key requirements

  • 10+ years in industry building software, ML or large-scale data systems, including 5+ years managing engineering teams that own production systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Substantial background in ads measurement or incrementality: conversion lift, brand lift, budget-split or matched-market testing, MMM, MTA, conversion APIs or clean-room approaches.
  • Solid grounding in experimentation, causal inference, probabilistic modeling, or measurement from noisy, incomplete or privacy-constrained data.
  • Track record of setting technical vision and multi-year roadmaps and carrying scalable systems from strategy to execution.
  • Proven cross-functional partnership with Engineering, Product, Data Science, Infrastructure and business teams.
  • Sound judgment navigating trade-offs among rigor, usability, system complexity, statistical power, data quality, privacy and time to market.
  • Experience establishing engineering practices for architecture, operational excellence, evaluation, monitoring and governance.
  • History of hiring, mentoring and developing managers and senior technical staff.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder influence across organizational lines.
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants and LLM productivity tools, paired with clear standards for critical review and testing.
  • Ability to commute to San Francisco, Palo Alto or Seattle for in-person collaboration one to two times per month.
  • Seniority: Senior Manager (10+ years experience, 5+ years managing)
  • Work mode: Hybrid — remote-friendly with 1-2 in-office days per month; must live within commuting distance of San Francisco, Palo Alto or Seattle
  • Salary: $227,871 - $469,147 USD base (US-based applicants only), plus equity
  • Key skills: Ads measurement, Incrementality testing, Causal inference, Experimentation, Marketing mix modeling, Multi-touch attribution, ML platforms, Data infrastructure, People management, Engineering strategy, Cross-functional leadership, LLM-assisted development
