Pinterest is hiring a remote Sr. Data Scientist Core!

Pinterest is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join its Core organization, the team responsible for shaping both consumer-facing and business-facing products used by hundreds of millions of pinners, creators, advertisers and merchants. This is a remote-eligible, individual-contributor role for someone who pairs statistical depth with product intuition: you would bring scientific rigor to how Pinterest instruments features, designs experiments, and turns web-scale behavioral data into decisions. The position sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Product Analytics and Data Engineering, and the company frames AI as an integral part of how teams work and how candidates are assessed. Note that the posting states US-based applicants only, that relocation support is not offered, and that the salary band is published in USD.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and promote best practices for instrumentation and experimentation, then communicate them to product engineering teams
  • Apply statistical methods and quantitative modeling to product creation, development and improvement, with attention to how Pinners actually behave
  • Build and iterate on prototyping and analysis pipelines that deliver insight at scale
  • Develop deep familiarity with Pinterest's data structures and metrics, and push for measurement changes where product needs demand them
  • Partner cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, designers and researchers, and translate findings into clear recommendations
  • Communicate key insights to both technical and non-technical audiences and help convert them into action

Key requirements

  • 5+ years analyzing data in a fast-paced, data-driven environment, with a track record of applying scientific methods to real-world problems on web-scale data
  • Extensive experience with quantitative approaches such as machine learning, statistical modeling, forecasting or econometrics
  • Hands-on use of ML and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn
  • A rigorous, skeptical approach to analysis with strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output
  • Ability to work with large, high-dimensional, complex datasets; fluency in SQL and a scripting language such as Python or R
  • Strong communication skills and comfort explaining learnings to technical and non-technical partners
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work with cross-functional leadership to turn insight into action quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Seniority: Senior
  • Work mode: Remote
  • Salary: $139,764 - $287,749 USD
  • Key skills: SQL, Python, R, PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, statistical modeling, machine learning, experimentation, forecasting, econometrics, data pipelines
